Affiliate Disclosure

In compliance with the internet and it's rough around the edge guidelines, please assume the following about all/most of the links, posts, photos and other material on this website:

Affiliate links that point to outside of this site or to products of which TheLife Photography receives a small commission from sales of certain items, but the price is the same for you.

Although it will have been repeatedly said on this page - we'd like to express the fact that the cost of the commission does NOT come out of or affect the cost of the products you buy through us and in many instances may be the reason there is a discount towards that product or service.

1. How this site is financed

TheLife Photography aims to be completely transparent when it comes to anything that is considered a secret to some, other websites can and do go out of their way to hide that they make money from the paid links (Affiliate Links) but again like us there are many many other legitimate websites that are open to keeping this honest like us so the market is a good place to shop.

TheLife Photography is much the same as most websites out there that promote products for a small commission but not all our recommendations are paid, the idea is to offer content that you use and enjoy. This site has a mix of sponsored and non- sponsored content and from only the sponsored content do we make a small commission that contributes to the running and overheads of this site and its content. For more on what costs us money have a look below at the 'where the money goes' section.

This site is growing on a day to day basis and is getting so big at this point that it is nearly impossible to go back through and list each and every program that we have an affiliate agreement with. Given this, you should assume that any links leading you to products or services are affiliate links that we will receive compensation from just to be safe.

So naturally there is the question of are we pushing this product/service just to make money, or are we recommending it because we feel it is in the best interest of our readers? Well the answer is actually that our goal is to help people through our own experience, so we won’t recommend a product unless we've

  1. Purchased it ourselves
  2. Used it personally (which will be the case the vast majority of the time).
  3. Thoroughly researched it and made sure of first hand user feedback from other successful websites/sources we trust and that have used the product/service.
  4. Certified that the product is of high quality and wouldn't recommend it unless we are willing to buy it ourselves.

You must understand we give a lot of valuable information away for free because we want to help people and learn from them in the process, but this is also a job for us and affiliate links are one of the ways we get paid for our work. If you find the information on TheLife Photography to be useful, we would highly appreciate your support by you using the affiliate links on this site rather than going directly to the source. Thank you in advance.

a. What is an affiliate link

Many (but not all) of the links on TheLife Photography are affiliate links. This means that a special tracking code is used and that we may make a small commission on the sale of an item if you purchase through one of these links. The price of the item is the same for you whether it is an affiliate link or not, and using affiliate links helps me to maintain this website.

In some cases, we may also use a link and provide a discount code for an item. In these cases, we may still earn an affiliate commission and the price may actually be LESS for you by using this link or tracking code.

Again, for simplicity, assume that any link on TheLife Photography is an affiliate link and that we may/will make a commission if you purchase through these links.

b. Nature of affiliate relationships

Please note that while we may personally purchase, review and use every product we link to, these products are purchased from third party companies and we do control these companies or have a financial interest other than an affiliate relationship unless otherwise disclosed.

For this reason, we cannot ensure that any item purchased through a link on TheLife Photography is shipped on time, packaged properly, or that you will like it. Any problems or concerns with a specific product purchased through a link on this website should be directed to the company the item was purchased from.

2. How money is formulated

Companies cannot pay to appear on the site. Guides and manuals are written purely from a 'what's the best way to do this?' stance. Once the guides and manuals are finished, it's our job to see if we can find 'affiliate links' to the top products related to that guide, manual or story.

These look and work in the same way as normal links, but if someone clicks through, the link is tracked and may generate a payment to the site. The details vary – sometimes the payment's per click, per user, per application, per accepted application or any combination.

We only use affiliate links that give you an identical (or better) deal than going direct. However, as these are technologically generated, issues can happen, so please let us know if you spot any via the contact us page form.

We don't track individuals' data (unless we've asked you, where it's necessary for a specific service). Nor will we ever sell it to third parties, without the individual user's permission.

3. Where the money goes

Our finances allow the main site to grow, create employment, build more tools, and help our users.

A few examples of where our money goes;

  • Technical staff and fixing problems
  • Servers and keeping the site running
  • Developing new tools
  • Internet Marketing
  • Legal bills
  • Charity

And within these point are other layers of costs, if you like us to explain them to you please get in contact via the contact us page form.
